Play to Act Together: Monaco’s Vision for Expo 2027 Belgrade

Every Pavilion is a statement of intent. It is where a nation gives tangible expression to its identity, its commitments and the relationship it seeks to build with international audiences.

Scenography, content, cultural programming, hospitality and communication all serve a single purpose. Together, they shape a Pavilion’s clarity, distinctiveness and lasting impact.

A Pavilion is therefore far more than an exhibition space. It is the immersive expression of a vision, connecting a country’s identity with the theme of Expo 2027 Belgrade through a narrative experienced across space, time and interaction.

One shared language

The strength of a Pavilion lies in the coherence of its creative direction. Visual identity, editorial content, materials, installations and visitor experiences all belong to the same narrative system, where every element reinforces the central idea.

Within an International Expo, branding provides the thread that holds everything together. It translates strategic intent into spatial, editorial and digital experiences, giving coherent form to the story a nation wishes to tell. That coherence ultimately shapes the project’s legibility, the quality of the visitor journey and its ability to leave a lasting impression.

Expo 2027 Belgrade: play as a shared language

From 15 May to 15 August 2027, the Specialised Expo in Belgrade will bring together participants from around the world under the theme “Play for Humanity – Sport and Music for All.”

By placing play at the heart of the event, Belgrade 2027 moves well beyond the idea of recreation. Play is presented as a universal language that encourages creativity, cooperation and resilience. Combined with sport and music, it engages body and mind, emotion and imagination, opening new ways for people and cultures to connect.

This approach offers every participating nation a common framework while leaving complete freedom to interpret it through its own identity. More than a theme, it is an invitation to explore participation, strengthen cultural dialogue and create experiences in which visitors become active contributors rather than passive observers.

Belgrade 2027 therefore positions play as a catalyst for engagement. Every Pavilion is invited to express this ambition through its own identity, priorities and vision.

Monaco, Play to Act

For the Monaco Pavilion, this vision takes shape through the concept “Monaco, Play to Act.”

The project associates play with movement and the collective ability to act. Water becomes both the narrative thread and the visual language, reflecting the identity of the Principality and the commitments that have long defined it.

Water embodies movement, transformation, interdependence and continuity. It reminds us that every action contributes to a wider dynamic, giving the Pavilion its symbolic depth.

Within this framework, play becomes an invitation to participate. Every interaction connects perception with emotion and engagement, allowing visitors to become part of a shared story.

The Pavilion offers a distinctly Monegasque interpretation of the Belgrade theme — one built around movement, connection and collective action.

Giving Form to Monaco’s Distinctiveness

As part of the consortium selected to design and deliver the Monaco Pavilion, Think.green contributes to the development of the Pavilion’s narrative, its creative direction and its visual identity.

Our role is to translate a strategic concept into an immersive visitor experience, connect every dimension of the project and ensure that its institutional ambitions are expressed with clarity and consistency.

We are grateful to Pavillon Monaco for its continued confidence. Following Expo 2020 Dubai and Expo 2025 Osaka, Belgrade marks the beginning of a new chapter.

Every World Expo opens a new international conversation.

Every Pavilion offers its own response.

Identity is not the destination; it is the language through which that conversation begins.

In Belgrade, the ambition is clear: to shape a Monaco Pavilion that is instantly recognisable, emotionally engaging and entirely coherent — designed to be discovered, experienced and shared.
