Expo 2030 Riyadh’s Winning Candidacy

Think Green was selected by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s to drive the design and creative strategy and help them convince 180 BIE member countries to elect them to host of World Expo 2030 through superior messaging, engagement, and presentation throughout its Expo 2030 bid, driving the design strategy and presentation behind the candidacy materials that ultimately helped the Kingdom secure one of the world’s largest global events.

Design strategy that resonate with and build trust among people in over 170 countries.

Preparing a winning candidacy to host a massive event like the World Expo is extraordinarily complex. For the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the main challenge was to drive a campaign that would resonate and build trust with the more than 170 countries, cultures, national plan and national dynamic, needs, etc…diverse Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) member states choosing the eventual host.
Given our experience with World Expo participant countries and prior design projects with sovereign nations, Think Green partnered with the Kingdom to create the digital and print candidacy materials that optimally positioned it to host a forward-thinking World Expo.

Honoring the Past, Shaping the Future

At each step of the candidacy process, we worked with the Kingdom to strategically present its unique character, values, and ideas to key BIE stakeholders. We built digital and print media products that resonated and built trust with BIE member states while authentically representing the Kingdom’s rapid growth, deep cultural heritage, and ambitious Vision 2030 initiatives.And ambition to make an Expo like no other. A new blue-print;

Designing an Authentic Bid Book

The World Expo bid book is a strategic document that showcases a nation’s vision and ability to host a forward-thinking mega event. To present a globally appealing bid book deeply imbued with Saudi Arabia’s national identity, we carefully reviewed a wide range of past bid books, aiming to propose a refreshing new spin that would capture the attention of BIE decision-makers.

We incorporated traditional patterns into our designs to honor Saudi heritage, drawing inspiration from local textiles and carpets while maintaining a modern feel. The color palette was thoughtfully curated to reflect the national identity and vision of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, inspired by elements associated with His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed Bin Salman. Ensuring user-friendliness, we built both print and interactive PDF versions that allowed readers to jump effortlessly between chapters and presented data, numbers, and statistics intuitively and with emphasis. By avoiding clichés and striking the right balance between respecting tradition and embracing innovation, we created a new type of bid book built with our signature elegant, minimalist style

BIE Official Presentations: General Assemblies, Executive Commissions, Seminars, and the Symposium

The Kingdom planned a series of events designed to demonstrate the Kingdom’s ability to host world-class events and build trust and confidence among voting countries. The events were intended to facilitate direct engagement between the Kingdom and BIE stakeholders, highlight the openness and receptiveness of Saudi representatives, and create an environment that encouraged constructive dialogue and collaboration.

Think Green provided global art direction for these efforts, from illustrating, animating, and delivering key messages to advising the Kingdom on the art of emotional storytelling in an official context. We designed the Kingdom’s presentations and videos to drive a clear emotional connection between the Kingdom and key BIE stakeholders.

Interactive Sessions

Set against the backdrop of the Carrousel du Louvre and Pré-Catelan and Hangar Y, the seminars and symposium were a great success. Both event series impressed BIE delegates due to the strength of the Kingdom’s emotion-led presentations that clearly presented the Kingdom’s key messages alongside a unique visual experience that blended cultural elements with modern technology.
